SSL 2+ MKII is a 2-in, 4-out USB-C audio interface with SSL microphone preamps and the 4K switch, which adds the analogue enhancement from SSL's large-format consoles at the input stage rather than in software afterwards.

What Does the 4K Switch Do?
It adds an analogue circuit modelled on the SSL 4000 console, introducing a subtle high-frequency lift and harmonic content on the way in. It happens in the analogue path before conversion, which is not something a plugin can replicate afterwards.
What Does 2-in 4-out Give Me?
Two microphone or instrument inputs and four outputs, which is enough for a main monitor pair plus a second output pair for a cue mix or a second set of speakers.
Is the MKII Different From the Original SSL 2+?
The MKII revises the design with updated conversion and connectivity while keeping the SSL preamps and the 4K switch that defined the original.
Why Solid State Logic
Solid State Logic has built consoles since 1969, and the SSL sound is one of the few in audio that engineers can identify by ear. The G-Series bus compressor alone defined how records were glued together for two decades. The current range brings those circuits down from large-format desks into interfaces, 500 series modules and desktop mixers without diluting the designs.
